If you’ve been to any other car or motorcycle show, you’ll find ours a bit different. We pride ourselves on integrating the students of Boys Republic into the proceedings as much as we can. One such example are the unique show trophies we hand out each year. The trophies are hand made by the students of Boys Republic, from donated parts.
Do you want to sponsor a trophy? Do you have a part or something you think might look good on a trophy? We’d love to hear from you. Contact us to find out how you might get involved.
Judging Criteria
Over 50 custom awards, made by the students of Boys Republic from donated car and motorcycle parts, are awarded for a large variety of vehicles. Great care and time are taken by our volunteer judging group to match the awards to all makes, models, and types of vehicles that participate in our event each year. Please note the general terms of how these winners are determined based on the criteria listed below:
-
- We are looking for “Cool Cars” in the way we think of Steve McQueen as the King of Cool.
- No concerns about dirt, dust or grease, a departure from traditional Concours where every nut and bolt are checked for cleanliness and authenticity.
- Presentation of the vehicle is important but so is the history, provenance and usage of the entrant’s vehicle within the class assigned (i.e., late model, early model, hot rod, race car etc.).
-
- Interior- should be clean and well preserved
- Exterior- overall presentation
- Engine and Mechanical Components- proper maintenance
- Cool Points” = historical Significance or rarity of the vehicle
The Friends of Steve McQueen Car and Motorcycle Show Committee along with the staff and students of Boys Republic and Girls Republic thank you for your participation in our annual event by bringing out your own pride and joy to join the field of vehicles on our campus.
